Whether They Were Funny, Sad or Just Plain Important, These Are the Best Moments From Season 1 (IMO)
In December I received an awesome Christmas present: season 1 of How I Met Your Mother on DVD. Just mere days before the jolly day, I had watched the season 8 double-episode 'The Final Page' and afterwards thought, ".... now I really want to watch the beginning of HIMYM again!" Why? Because I wanted to look back on this legendary series and point out how far we have come. Also, there were moments in the season that were worth seeing again.
Now I've decided to list these moments worth mentioning, and I'm starting with season 1 only because if I had to list a limited number of best moments from the entire series... it would give me quite a migraine. So here are the best moments, in my opinion, from season 1.

Ted Mosby meets Robin Scherbatsky (S1X01)
Typical? Yes. But insanely important? Yeah!
So who is responsible for this meeting? Was it Barney since he introduced the two "Haaaave you met Ted?" style or was it Marshall who decided to propose to Lily, causing Ted to think about his love life when he saw Robin? Or was it simply fate and destiny deciding to mess with these people that night? Either way, the introduction of Robin is pretty much the catalyst of the whole series: if Robin never met Ted, she would never have met Barney, she would never have fallen in love and get married, there wouldn't be a special wedding that Ted and the Mother attend, and ultimately all of this would never set up whatever circumstances that would lead to Ted meeting the Mother. After all, Future Ted did start the story with Robin's intro for a reason.
The Duel (S1X08)
Ted and Marshall have a sword fight in the apartment. That sentence alone already sounds cool.
The Pineapple and Drunk Ted (S1X10)
"Dammit Trudy, what about the pineapple!?!?!" - Marshall
Ah, the mystery of the random pineapple. How could any fan forget this? And why is it on this list? Because it's still a mystery eight years later. Future Ted did say they never found out where it came from. But it was delicious so we can move on, right?..... RIGHT?!? Besides, Drunk Ted is one of the most hilarious things I have ever seen on the show.
Barney and Robin have a bros' night out (S1X14)
Thus, Barney/Robin was born. And it does remind you just how much fun they have from the very first time together.
The birth of Barney as we know him (S1X15)
We see the transformation of Hippie Barney to Suit Up Barney... Darth Vadar style.
The reverse of the first episode: Ted and Robin become a thing and Marshall and Lily break up (S1X22)
Ted makes it rain (on hot days I wish I had his skills!) so he and Robin become boyfriend and girlfriend but not everyone is happily in love: you just feel for Marshall when Ted sees him the steps outside in the rain holding the ring.
So that's my list. If I forget anything (and I probably have) I'll add it later.
Also note, my blog posts will become less frequent now since I'm entering the busy time of the year. However, I will definitely post my thoughts and recaps on new episodes when I watch them, and if I think of something to discuss about in my free time I will post it - but these posts will not be regular anymore. So that gives this blog around a post per week, counting there's a new episode every week. Cheers!
